How to Unlock Alexander Raids in FFXIV: Gordias, Midas, and The Creator
Checked October 14, 2026. This guide follows Square Enix’s official Alexander quest requirements. If an item-level or queue rule differs in your game, use the current Duty Finder listing.
Trying to get into Alexander in Final Fantasy XIV? You don’t need to unlock every raid in the game first. Alexander is an optional level-60 raid storyline from Heavensward, divided into three four-fight chapters: Gordias, Midas, and The Creator. The trick is starting the correct quest and finishing each chapter in order.
Alexander Unlock Requirements at a Glance
- Level: 60 on a combat job.
- Main story: Complete the level-60 main scenario quest Heavensward.
- Starting quest: Disarmed, given by Slowfix in Idyllshire at approximately X:7.5, Y:6.5.
- First tier: Alexander: Gordias. Midas and The Creator unlock later through the same story.
These prerequisites are confirmed in the official Disarmed quest listing and Square Enix’s Alexander launch notes.
Step 1: Unlock Alexander: Gordias
- Finish the Heavensward main scenario quest. Being level 60 alone isn’t enough.
- Travel to Idyllshire and find Slowfix near X:7.5, Y:6.5.
- Accept Disarmed and follow its objectives. This begins the Alexander story and unlock path.
- Clear each available Alexander duty and continue the blue quest chain to open the next floor.
Gordias contains four normal-mode encounters: The Fist of the Father, The Cuff of the Father, The Arm of the Father, and The Burden of the Father. After completing the normal story quests for Gordias, Savage mode becomes available through a separate quest.
Step 2: Unlock Alexander: Midas
Once Gordis is cleared, the next chapter, Midas, unlocks through the continuing blue quest chain. Midas similarly contains four normal encounters: The Cuff of the Son, The Arm of the Son, The Burden of the Son, and The Whorleater. Complete these and the associated quests to proceed.
Step 3: Unlock Alexander: The Creator
The final chapter, The Creator, becomes available after Midas. Its four encounters are The Cuff of the Daughter, The Arm of the Daughter, The Burden of the Daughter, and The Duty of the Daughter. Finish The Creator’s story to complete the Alexander storyline.
Savage Modes
Each chapter has its own Savage variant, unlocked through separate quests after completing the normal-mode story for that tier. Savage raids feature harder mechanics and better rewards, making them a popular challenge for experienced players.
With this progression in place, you can work through all three Alexander tiers systematically, unlocking the full raid experience Heavensward has to offer.
