Frozen 3: Release Date, Cast, and Why There Is Still No Trailer

If you searched for a Frozen 3 trailer today, you are not alone. Google Trends lists “disney frozen 3 trailer” among the sharply rising searches in Canada right now. The uncomfortable answer is that Disney has not released one, and the clips circulating under that name are not an official trailer.

What Disney has released is a date, a directing team, and a short burst of footage shown to a room in Anaheim. That is enough to answer most of the real questions, and it is worth separating from the noise before you spend twenty minutes on a video that turns out to be concept art with music over it.

The release date is set: November 24, 2027

Disney’s own Frozen 3 page lists the film as coming to theaters on November 24, 2027. The Walt Disney Company repeated the same date in its official recap of the D23 showcase, so this is not a placeholder or a trade report: it is the studio’s published date. That puts the film roughly eight years after Frozen 2, which Disney lists as a 2019 release.

It is a Wednesday release, which is normal for a Disney Animation title landing in the American Thanksgiving window, and it means a theatrical run first. Nothing in Disney’s materials suggests a same-day streaming release, and the company has not announced a Disney+ date for the film.

    Who is actually making it

Three names carry most of the weight here, and all three are confirmed on Disney’s own recap:

    • Jennifer Lee directs, sharing the role with Trent Correy. Disney’s own Frozen 2 page credits Lee as co-director of the previous film, alongside Chris Buck.
    • Christina Chen produces.
    • Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez wrote the songs. Disney describes them as its Academy Award-winning composer duo, and the new material performed at D23 came from them.

For parents, the useful detail buried in that list is that Disney is not handing this to a new team. The directing chair and the songwriting team both carry over from the earlier films.

What Disney actually showed at D23

At the Disney Entertainment Showcase on August 14, 2026, the Frozen 3 segment closed the night. Kristen Bell (Anna), Idina Menzel (Elsa) and Josh Gad (Olaf) performed: Bell and Menzel sang a new version of “Frozen Heart,” and Gad performed a new song called “Ooooh, Samantha,” written for Olaf’s first crush.

Then came the part that generated the headlines. The three unveiled new animation featuring Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff and Sven, and it “hinted at a new villainess whose powers rival those of Elsa’s.” That phrasing is Disney’s, not a fan interpretation. It is also the single most consequential thing we know about the plot, because a villain who can match Elsa changes what the film has to be about.

What Disney did not do is post that footage publicly. The showcase material was shown in the room, and the studio’s official Frozen 3 page currently carries the poster treatment, a release date and one piece of concept art showing the group looking at lights in the night sky. No trailer video is published there.

Why “Frozen 3 trailer” searches are surging anyway

Three things feed a search spike like this one. Camera recordings and descriptions from the D23 room travel fast and get labeled as trailers by aggregators. The film’s marketing window is genuinely opening, with a release inside fourteen months. And Frozen is one of the few animated franchises where parents search for trailer news on behalf of children who cannot yet type.

None of that produces an official trailer. If a video is a vertical phone recording of a cinema screen, it is not a Disney release. If it has a thumbnail of Elsa in a pink gown that matches the D23 descriptions, it is likely a recreation or a still, not footage Disney published. The clean test is simple: check Disney’s Frozen 3 page or the studio’s official channels. When a real trailer lands, it will be there the same day, and it will be in widescreen with a studio logo at the front.

    Confirmed versus unconfirmed

Confirmed by Disney: the November 24, 2027 theatrical date, Jennifer Lee and Trent Correy as directors, Christina Chen as producer, songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, Bell, Menzel and Gad returning, a new song for Olaf’s first crush, and the reveal of a new villainess whose power is described as rivaling Elsa’s.

Not confirmed: a trailer release date, a full voice cast beyond the three announced performers, a plot synopsis beyond the D23 footage, a runtime, a Disney+ date, and any release plan for a fourth film. Disney’s recap covers Frozen 3 only and does not address what comes after it.

What to do with this until the trailer lands

If your kid is asking, the honest answer is that the film is real, dated, and more than a year away, and the video they were shown is probably not what it claims to be. If you are tracking the marketing, the sequence to watch is a teaser attached to a major Disney release, then a full trailer roughly four to six months out. On a November 2027 date, that puts a public teaser most plausibly in the first half of 2027.

That last paragraph is a projection based on how Disney has marketed comparable animated sequels, not an announcement, and it should be read that way.

For a recent example of how fast a Disney trailer turns into a dated release plan, our breakdown of Disney’s Hexed trailer separates the confirmed November 25 release from the speculation in the same way.
