Apple’s New Apple TV 4K Costs $299 and Brings Siri AI to the Living Room

Apple announced the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K on October 13, 2026 at its ‘Welcome Home’ event, introducing a redesigned streaming box powered by the A19 chip and featuring an entirely new Siri AI experience for the living room. The device is priced at $299 in the United States, with preorders opening the same day and availability beginning November 13.

The new Apple TV 4K is available in a single configuration with 128GB of storage. It is also listed at GBP 299 in the United Kingdom and EUR 349 in European markets, according to FlatpanelsHD.

    Performance and the A19 chip

At the heart of the new device is Apple’s A19 chip, which the company says delivers up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to twice the graphics performance compared to the previous model’s A15 Bionic. MacRumors reports that the device likely ships with 8GB of RAM, up from 4GB in the previous generation, a change that would support the more demanding Siri AI features and multitasking.

The performance gains are not incremental. A 50 percent CPU improvement and doubled GPU performance mean the device can handle more complex on-device processing for Siri AI features, faster app launches, and smoother navigation through media libraries.

    Siri AI arrives

The headline feature is Siri AI, an entirely new version of Siri powered by Apple Intelligence. It offers a full-screen conversational experience designed specifically for finding things to watch, a departure from the minimal voice-response interface that defined earlier versions of Siri on Apple TV.

Siri AI is in beta at launch and available in English in the United States, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

Crucially, Siri AI does not require the new hardware. Apple says the feature is available in beta on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) and later running an upcoming tvOS 27.2 beta, and it requires a paired iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence. This means owners of older Apple TV 4K models can access the new Siri experience without buying new hardware, provided they also own a compatible iPhone or iPad.

The new Apple TV 4K includes three far-field microphones so users can say “Siri” or “Hey Siri” without holding the remote. The updated Siri Remote retains its microphone and a Siri button on the side for those who prefer a traditional button press.

What it costs and when you can get it

The new Apple TV 4K is priced at $299 in the US. Preorders opened on October 13, 2026, with availability in stores and delivery beginning November 13, 2026, in the United States and 29 other countries and regions.

The $299 price represents an increase compared to earlier generations of Apple TV 4K, which launched at lower price points. The increase reflects the inclusion of the A19 chip, more RAM, and the new microphone array for hands-free Siri.

The new Siri Remote is sold separately and is compatible with Apple TV HD and later models. It adds Find My support with Precision Finding and a built-in speaker so it can beep when lost, addressing one of the most common frustrations with the previous remote design.

    Connectivity and audio

The device includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Thread and Matter support, Gigabit Ethernet, and HDMI 2.1 with support for eARC and Quick Media Switching. However, HDMI output is capped at 4K at 60fps with no support for 4K120, according to FlatpanelsHD. The device also supports AV1 decoding.

Up to four HomePod (2nd generation) or HomePod mini 2 speakers can be paired with the Apple TV 4K as front and rear pairs for a surround sound configuration, creating a more immersive home theater experience without a dedicated AV receiver.

Other specifications include a built-in power supply, an IR receiver, and tvOS 27.2 preinstalled. The operating system update brings a Podcasts app with video podcasts, plus Hi-Res Lossless, AutoMix, and Crossfade features in Apple Music. tvOS 27 will not be available for Apple TV HD or the 1st-generation Apple TV 4K.

    Who should upgrade

Owners of the previous Apple TV 4K generation will see the most significant performance improvement, moving from the A15 Bionic to the A19 chip with substantially more RAM. The addition of far-field microphones for hands-free Siri and the full-screen Siri AI experience are meaningful quality-of-life improvements, though both are in beta.

Users with older Apple TV models, particularly the Apple TV HD or 1st-generation Apple TV 4K, face a harder decision. tvOS 27 will not be available for those devices, meaning they will lose access to future software updates and new features. The $299 investment buys years of continued software support.

One important caveat: Siri AI is a beta product. Early versions of new Siri capabilities have historically been uneven, with inconsistent comprehension and occasional misunderstandings. Users who rely heavily on voice control should temper expectations until the feature matures beyond beta.

The previous top-of-the-line Apple TV 4K is being discontinued, according to The Verge, leaving the new 4K model as the sole Apple TV offering in Apple’s lineup.

    Apple’s vision

Bob Borchers, Apple VP of Worldwide Product Marketing, said: “The new Apple TV 4K is our most immersive home theater experience yet.”

The combination of the A19 chip, Siri AI, and expanded HomePod pairing positions the Apple TV 4K as more than a streaming box. It is Apple’s bid to make the television the center of a connected living room, with Siri as the interface and HomePod speakers as the audio foundation.
