OpenAI Expands ChatGPT App Integrations, But Where’s Apple Music?
Earlier this year, OpenAI introduced a new feature that allows users to access popular apps directly from the ChatGPT interface. This feature, known as “apps in ChatGPT,” has already been rolled out for several well-known services, including Spotify, Zillow, and Canva. Recently, OpenAI announced an array of new apps that will be integrated into ChatGPT, but one notable absence from the list is Apple Music.
According to Fidji Simo, CEO of applications at ChatGPT, the new integrations will include Adobe, Airtable, Clay, Lovable, OpenTable, Replit, and Salesforce, among others. However, Apple Music was initially reported to be part of this list, but the reference has since been removed. It’s unclear whether this means Apple Music won’t be coming to ChatGPT or if its integration has been delayed.
How Do ChatGPT App Integrations Work?
With apps in ChatGPT, users can access various services directly from the chat interface. For example, if a user asks ChatGPT to create a Spotify playlist, the app will automatically activate and allow the user to create a playlist without leaving the chat. Similarly, users can book restaurants using OpenTable or create posters using Canva, all from within the ChatGPT interface.
OpenAI hasn’t announced a specific release date for the new app integrations, but the feature is currently available to all regions except the European Union and the United Kingdom. The company is releasing the integrations in small batches every few weeks to months, with a focus on large, well-known services. However, OpenAI plans to eventually offer a full app store with the ability for any developer to create their own integrations, which could lead to a wide range of possibilities, from maps to shopping and niche image editing tools.
