Bitcoin rose about 1.4% to roughly $82,749 as crude oil prices and Treasury yields declined, lifting risk appetite across cryptocurrency markets. Ethereum gained about 1.9%, XRP about 2.6%, Solana about 1.6% and Dogecoin about 3% over the same 24-hour window, according to market data reported by Benzinga on October 21, 2026.
The numbers
Bitcoin traded between about $81,272 and $83,249 during the session, closing the day at roughly $83,054 according to separate data. Ethereum spiked to an intraday high of about $2,471 before consolidating, and the broader market capitalisation of the tracked cryptocurrencies sat around $2.81 trillion with 24-hour volume near $9.77 billion.
Gainers outnumbered losers across the market: of the assets with a live price, 682 rose and 172 fell. Among categories, privacy-focused tokens performed best and asset-backed tokens worst.
Why macro moves crypto
Lower oil prices and cooling Treasury yields reduce the pressure on risk assets, and crypto has historically moved in the same direction as other higher-risk investments during these shifts. CryptoQuant noted that spot demand remained weak despite signs of whale accumulation — a reminder that a single price move does not tell you who is buying.
Cryptocurrency prices are extremely volatile and can move sharply in either direction within hours. Nothing in this article is investment advice, and past moves do not predict future ones.
What we did not do
We did not independently verify these prices against an exchange. Figures are quoted from the market reporting cited below and are a snapshot, not a live price feed.
