Google introduced a new property type in Search Console that lets creators and site owners see how their Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube posts perform inside Google Search and Discover. The announcement came through the Google Search Central Blog and a companion post on Google Search Central’s LinkedIn account.
The new property type is called platform properties. It extends a reporting capability that previously applied only to owned websites, so creators with no website of their own can now see which search terms drive clicks to their posts.
How to add it
Open Search Console, either through the main welcome screen or by opening the property selector dropdown and selecting Add property. The interface then presents four supported platforms: Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube.
Once connected, Performance, Insights and Achievements reports work in the same way they do for a website property, so if you already read Search Console for a site, the interface will be familiar. The change reports on how your content performs in Google Search and Discover rather than on the social platforms themselves.
Why this matters for creators
The practical benefit is measurement. A creator who posts on TikTok or YouTube but owns no website previously had no official Google-side view of which search terms were sending people to their content. Platform properties closes that gap using Google’s own search data, which is a different signal from the analytics the social platforms provide.
Google stated the feature would roll out gradually over the following weeks rather than becoming available to all accounts at once. If you cannot see the option yet, that is the stated rollout, not a permissions problem on your account.
This pairs with our AI Search Visibility Audit, which covers the practical steps for checking whether AI-powered search is actually helping customers find you.
What we did not do
We did not connect a social account to Search Console or verify the reporting output, and we did not confirm the current rollout status for any specific account. The description of the feature comes from Google’s own blog and help documentation.
