Street Fighter Wins the Weekend as You Can See Everything Sets a Record

Paramount’s Street Fighter opened at No. 1 for the October 16-18, 2026 weekend with about $31 million in North America, according to Sunday box office estimates reported by Deadline. The bigger surprise was the No. 2 finish by A24’s You Can See Everything.

You Can See Everything, an Elizabeth Holmes documentary, opened to about $15 million from 855 theaters. Deadline reported it as the biggest documentary debut since 2004, with more than 2,000 sellouts across its run.

    Why the documentary number matters

Documentaries rarely open at No. 2 on a wide weekend. The You Can See Everything figure came from a limited 855-theater release, which means the per-theater average was far higher than a typical wide opener. Gold Derby noted the record framing alongside Street Fighter‘s win.

That is the distinction worth keeping straight: Street Fighter won on total gross, while the documentary’s record is about what it achieved from far fewer screens. The two numbers measure different things.

What this means for the rest of the fall slate

A strong October weekend gives a studio momentum into the holiday season, and it is a useful reminder that a No. 1 opening is not the only measure of a successful release. Limited releases that open big per theater can expand if the audience holds.

Our earlier coverage looked at the October 23 box office preview including Clayface, which opens the following weekend and will have to compete with this holdover traffic.

Looking further ahead, our Dune: Part Three release coverage covers the next big December release on the calendar.

    What we did not do

Box office figures for a weekend in progress are estimates, not final numbers. We did not verify any individual theater count or per-screen average ourselves, and we did not watch or review either film.
