The Roku Channel is adding two new Roku Original holiday romantic comedies to its free ad-supported lineup: Second Chance Holiday, starring Ayesha Curry and Matthew Daddario, and The Holiday Spark, starring Joey Graziadei and Jamie Chung.
Roku announced both films in July 2026. The Holiday Spark begins streaming on The Roku Channel on November 2, according to the trailer coverage, and Roku says the pair are part of its scripted holiday original programming.
What each film is
In Second Chance Holiday, a dating expert played by Ayesha Curry decides to break what she calls her curse of always being dumped during the holiday season. The film is directed by Maxwell McGuire, written by Erin Muroski and produced by Muse Entertainment.
The Holiday Spark pairs Joey Graziadei, in his first feature film role, with Jamie Chung in a holiday romance about a firefighter. It is directed by Rhonda Baraka, written by Mary Kate Hegarty and produced by Wild Winn Pictures and SuttleFilm in association with FOX Entertainment Studios.
Why a free service is investing in originals
Roku says every original holiday rom-com it has released since 2024 ranked in the service’s top 10 titles during its opening month. That claim is the company’s own, and it is the reason Roku is expanding the category rather than simply licensing existing holiday films.
The Roku Channel is free and ad-supported, with more than 80,000 on-demand movies and programs and over 500 live linear channels according to Roku, plus premium subscription add-ons. It is the number two app on the Roku platform in the US by streaming hours, the company says.
What this means for viewers
The practical point is that these are free to watch with ads, not rental titles. If you already own a Roku device or a Roku TV, they will appear in the same interface you use for everything else.
If you are comparing free ad-supported options this season, our Hulu November 2026 schedule breakdown covers the subscription side, and our late October 2026 accessory roundup is unrelated but useful if you are setting up a new streaming corner.
What we did not do
We did not watch either film, and we did not verify Roku’s claim about holiday rom-com performance beyond the company’s own press release. Availability dates can change, so check The Roku Channel itself for the current listing.
